By: Sacha Walton, Business Strategist and CEO of SWI Management Group

Jennie Hays, Founder of Jennie’s Health Solutions

Hi, I’m Sacha Walton, founder and editor of Biz Her Way. My mission is to celebrate women business owners and entrepreneurs who are disrupting their industries, trailblazing the norm, and impacting change within their communities.

Women are making an impact worldwide in business ownership. Whether they are Entrepreneurs, Mompreneurs, Authors, Speakers, Creatives, or Intrapreneurs as C-suite employees; they are playing by their own rules and creating their narratives.

According to the Small Business Association (SBA), “over 13 million women own businesses in the US.” Women are taking their place in society and scaling businesses with ideas, talents, passions, and skillsets while staying focused on legacy building.

My heart desires to see women win and I’m excited about sharing the amazing stories of these phenomenal women.

Let’s lift up and applaud all the amazing, talented, inspirational, and diverse women worldwide who are making their voices heard.

I’m excited about our upcoming women’s summit, The Biz Her Way Virtual Summit. It’s free to register and we WANT you to join us. No matter what level of business you are at, you don’t want to miss this event. We have amazing speakers lined up just for you and I recently had a wonderful conversation with Jennie Hays, Founder of Jennie’s Health Solutions, One of Biz Her Way’s Virtual Summit Speakers.

Thank you for having this interview with me. I’m excited about sharing your story in our Biz Her Way Series here on Medium.com.

Our readers would love to learn more about you. Please tell us who you are and a little something about yourself.

I’m Jennie Hays, a former paramedic with over 20 years of experience, now specializing in helping women entrepreneurs break through emotional and mindset blocks using brainspotting.

I’ve always had a gift for seeing beneath the surface to uncover what’s really holding people back, and I’m passionate about guiding women to unlock their full potential. Whether it’s imposter syndrome, self-sabotage, or overwhelm, I help my clients achieve rapid transformations — often in just a single session.

I’m certified in brainspotting, hypnosis, and NLP, and I use methods inspired by Accelerated Resolution Therapy, Rapid Resolution Therapy, and Internal Family Systems to help clients dig deep, often getting results far faster than they ever imagined possible.

I specialize in helping women entrepreneurs — especially those struggling with imposter syndrome, overwhelm, self-sabotage, and fear of being seen. I know firsthand that these challenges aren’t just about mindset; they run deeper, often tied to unresolved emotions and past experiences.

My work is all about connecting the brain and body to identify and release those deeper emotional triggers. With brainspotting, we can uncover the root causes that lead to imposter syndrome, fear of failure, or the paralyzing feeling of not being good enough.

By addressing these emotional blocks, we create space for clarity, confidence, and meaningful breakthroughs — allowing my clients to fully step into their personal and professional power.

One of the things that makes my work unique is how quickly brainspotting can create transformation. I’ve seen clients who were stuck in cycles of self-sabotage and overwhelm for years finally break free after just a single session.

Whether they’re battling anxiety, fear of being seen, or a persistent sense that they’re not living up to their potential, the shifts that happen when the brain and body are aligned are undeniable — and fast.

Outside of work, I’m a wife, stepmom, and grandma who loves fishing, road trips, and cozy nights with my family and our pets.

“Success isn’t just about hustling hard — it’s about creating a business that nourishes your life, not drains it.” Jennie Hays

Now, everyone has a story behind the beginning of their business. What inspired you to start your own business, and how has your journey been so far?

I poured my heart into building a business coaching women on insulin resistance for five years. Within months of starting, I enrolled in my first course, excitedly. But as soon as I hit the marketing section, I hit a wall — several, actually. On top of that, life got in the way: my mother-in-law had a stroke, my dad died unexpectedly, and COVID hit just as I was learning to speak on stages to get clients.

I never finished that course. But instead of giving up, I kept trying. I purchased course after course, each time convinced I’d found the one method to break through and make my business profitable. But every time I hit the marketing part; I’d go from star student to ghosting the program.

I always blamed the program, convincing myself it wasn’t me — it was the method. But deep down, I knew I had a mental block around promoting myself and being seen. The irony was that I’ve won sales prizes and have no problem singing on stage, but marketing myself? That was different.

In my final attempt, I even asked if the program required me to promote to people, I knew because I thought that was the real problem. Eventually, I took a job because I wasn’t making enough to cover the cost of all the courses. That job ended up being a blessing.

I worked for a company that taught therapists how to scale their businesses, and I kept seeing people with the same struggles I had. That’s when the owners introduced me to brainspotting. After seeing my clients experience massive changes in just one session — going from stuck to taking action — I decided to try it on myself.

Through brainspotting, I realized my struggle wasn’t about the programs; it was about alignment. I was so focused on doing business the way others said I should that I lost sight of my own values, my passion, and what worked for my neurodivergent brain (I have ADHD).

That’s when everything changed. I started building my business in a way that fit my life, my values, and my passion for helping entrepreneurs. I officially started networking in July 2024 and launched my business to the public just a few weeks ago.

I’m loving the work and find so much joy in sharing the possibilities of brainspotting and helping women succeed. What makes this new journey so exciting is that it’s not just a business — it’s a new life, full of freedom and alignment.

I’m finally doing the work in a way that resonates with who I am and allows me to sing the praises of brainspotting while loving women into success!

“Authenticity is your superpower” — Jennie Hays

Tell us about the pivotal moment when you knew your business idea had great potential.

The pivotal moment for me came when I was working at a company that taught therapists how to scale their businesses. I had been struggling with my own roadblocks — imposter syndrome, fear of self-promotion, and a deep resistance to being seen.

The owners of the company introduced me to brainspotting, and that’s when everything changed. As I started using brainspotting with entrepreneurs facing the same issues I had battled for years — self-doubt, fear of failure, and self-sabotage — I was amazed by the quick and powerful transformations.

After just a single brainspotting session, clients went from feeling completely stuck to taking bold action they had avoided for months or even years. I watched as women who had been paralyzed by anxiety suddenly found the clarity and confidence to launch new products, speak on stage, or promote their services with ease.

The shifts were profound, and it was clear that brainspotting was a breakthrough method beyond traditional mindset approaches. But the true turning point came when I did a brainspotting session of my own. In that moment, I realized I needed to build my business around who I truly was.

While I loved helping women with insulin resistance, brainspotting was what truly set me on fire. I discovered that I was most alive in those moments of magic when a deep connection is made during a session — when everything shifts for the client and they experience a breakthrough.

I knew I needed to build my business around that passion. That’s when I knew my business had incredible potential. Brainspotting wasn’t just another tool — it was a life-changing method that allowed me to be part of these transformative moments.

Watching my clients break through emotional blocks and step fully into their potential has been beyond fulfilling. I’m passionate about sharing that magic and helping women entrepreneurs unlock the clarity and confidence they need to succeed.

How are you making an impact with your business or project?

I’m making an impact with my business by helping women entrepreneurs break through the emotional and mindset blocks that hold them back from achieving their true potential.

Through brainspotting, I guide clients to address deep-rooted fears, imposter syndrome, self-sabotage, and overwhelm — often in just a single session. The transformations are rapid and profound, enabling these women to overcome obstacles they’ve struggled with for years, allowing them to step into their power with confidence and clarity.

By aligning my work with my values and life, I’m also modeling a new way of doing business — one that prioritizes mental and emotional well-being as much as financial success. My goal is to empower more women to create lives and businesses that not only thrive but feel authentic and fulfilling.

Through this work, I help them experience freedom from what’s been holding them back so they can fully embrace their potential and succeed in ways that resonate deeply with who they are.

What advice would you give to aspiring female entrepreneurs looking to start their own ventures?

  1. My advice to aspiring female entrepreneurs is to build your business in a way that aligns with who you truly are, not just what you think you “should” do based on others’ opinions or trends.
  2. Stay connected to your own values, passions, and strengths — your business should be an extension of you, not a mold you force yourself into.
  3. Authenticity is your superpower.
  4. Don’t be afraid to ask for help, whether that’s through mentorship, coaching, or tools like brainspotting that help you clear emotional and mindset blocks.
  5. Self-doubt and imposter syndrome are common, but they don’t have to define your journey.
  6. Embrace the discomfort of growth, trust in your abilities, and take action even when fear tries to hold you back.
  7. Success isn’t just about hustling hard — it’s about creating a business that nourishes your life, not drains it.
  8. Build your venture in a way that brings you joy and fulfillment, and the rest will follow.
  9. I also recommend a complete business school like zynnyme, which teaches business for therapists but can also be used by coaches and other B2C providers.
  10. Having a unified voice guiding you through the background “stuff” — from setting up systems to understanding marketing — can make a world of difference in helping you stay focused and confident in your business decisions.

It’s important to have that strong foundation to support your growth and success.

We celebrate women entrepreneurs in our publication. How do you make a difference in the lives of other women entrepreneurs?

I make a difference in the lives of women entrepreneurs by helping them break through the emotional and mindset blocks that keep them stuck, often in just a single brainspotting session. Many of these women struggle with imposter syndrome, self-sabotage, and the fear of being seen — just as I did.

Through brainspotting, I guide them to address these deep-rooted fears and emotional barriers so they can finally step into their full potential with confidence and clarity. What truly drives me is watching women go from feeling overwhelmed and doubtful to empowered and action-oriented.

It’s not just about achieving success in their businesses — it’s about unlocking their inner power so they can thrive in all areas of their lives.

I’m passionate about helping women entrepreneurs align their businesses with who they truly are, allowing them to experience joy, fulfillment, and freedom on their terms. Every time I help a woman clear a block, I’m contributing to her ability to not only build a thriving business but also live authentically and with purpose.

“Stay true to who you are, both in life and in business.” — Jennie Hays

How do you balance the demands of entrepreneurship with personal well-being and self-care?

I balance the demands of entrepreneurship with personal well-being and self-care by maintaining good boundaries and aligning my business with who I truly am. A big part of that is honoring my roles as a wife and grandma.

I have clear business hours and rarely work outside of them. My rule is to work during the time I’ve set aside and only continue if I feel inspired. Unlike my previous career in paramedicine, no one’s life depends on whether I respond to an email or post a blog on time.

This shift in perspective has been freeing. I’ve learned that it’s perfectly okay to build my business around my life, instead of the other way around. When I was holding onto my old business model, I was self-sabotaging, not just with marketing and sales, but with my own health.

Since switching to a model that aligns with my passion for brainspotting, I’ve regained my energy and have started following the health practices I teach my insulin-resistance clients.

This balance has made all the difference, allowing me to feel better, work smarter, and live more fully.

Provide words of wisdom in 2 -5 sentences for another woman.

Stay true to who you are, both in life and in business.

Your authenticity is your greatest strength, and when you align your work with your values and passions, everything falls into place.

Identify the blocks that are holding you back — whether it’s fear, imposter syndrome, or self-doubt — and deal with them head-on.

Don’t be afraid to set boundaries and prioritize self-care; thriving both personally and professionally is possible when you honor yourself first.

What’s next for you?

What’s next for me? My big goal is to make my business profitable enough that I can do it full-time and finally retire my long-suffering husband!

I promised him four years ago that he could retire, but I quickly realized that without consistent marketing, those dreams get delayed. Now that my business is aligned with my passion for brainspotting, I’m confident I’ll achieve that goal.

Once the business is thriving, we plan to buy a motor home and travel the country, exploring all the places we’ve dreamed about. Eventually, we hope to own a small second home on the coast with a fishing pier right outside — where we can unwind, fish, and enjoy the freedom we’ve worked so hard to create.

It’s about building a business that not only thrives, but also supports the life we truly want.
