Tomeka Jones Founder of Flawless Life Coaching

Hi, I’m Sacha Walton, founder and editor of Biz Her Way. My mission is to celebrate women business owners and entrepreneurs who are disrupting their industries, trailblazing the norm, and impacting change within their communities.

Women are making an impact worldwide in business ownership. Whether they are Entrepreneurs, Mompreneurs, Authors, Speakers, Creatives, or Intrapreneurs as C-suite employees; they are playing by their own rules and creating their narratives.

According to the Small Business Association (SBA), “over 13 million women own businesses in the US.” Women are taking their place in society and scaling businesses with ideas, talents, passions, and skillsets while staying focused on legacy building.

My heart desires to see women win and I’m excited about sharing the amazing stories of these phenomenal women.

Let’s lift up and applaud all the amazing, talented, inspirational, and diverse women worldwide who are making their voices heard.

I’m excited about our upcoming women’s summit, The Biz Her Way Virtual Summit. It’s free to register, and we want you to join us. No matter what level of business you are at, you don’t want to miss this event. We have amazing speakers lined up just for you, and I recently had a wonderful conversation with Tomeka Jones, Founder of Flawless Life Coaching and one of Biz Her Way’s Virtual Summit Speakers.

Thank you for having this interview with me. I’m excited about sharing your story in our Biz Her Way Series here on Medium.com.

Our readers would love to learn more about you. Please tell us who you are and a little something about yourself.

Who am I? Who am I without all the accolades and titles? I am bold, I am beautiful, I am limitless, I am Spiritual, I am decisive, I am ambitious, I am abundant. I am a woman who struggled with many flaws for many, many, many years. I struggled with my own battles with self-doubt, negative self-talk, feeling unworthy, and the pressures of societal expectations. I didn’t know how to love because I didn’t know what love looked like and how love truly felt. I didn’t love what I saw looking back to me in the mirror.

Today, I’m the founder of Flawless Life Coaching and a transformational life coach. I’m dedicated to empowering women to elevate their mindset, exude confidence, and embrace self-love.

Our mission is to help women realize their full potential and live the abundant lives they desire and deserve. We offer a range of services designed to support women in their personal growth journeys, including Mindset Coaching to shift perspectives and cultivate a growth mindset, Self-Love Mentorship to build a strong foundation of self-love, and Resilience Training to equip women with the tools to bounce back stronger from life’s adversities.

Our Confidence Building programs empower women to take bold steps toward their dreams. Beyond core coaching, we have Flawless Getaways Travel, offering a unique group travel experience, that fosters sisterhood and self-discovery, and a line of motivational apparel through Flawless Fashion Co. that celebrates strength and empowerment.

Being in the military and my personal journey of overcoming challenges shaped my coaching philosophy, and my book, “Riding the Wave to Self-Confidence,” guides women to overcome self-doubt and embrace true self-worth.

I invite everyone reading the article to join us at Flawless Life Coaching to start your journey toward empowerment and self-love and discover the strength, confidence, and resilience within you.

“Believe in your vision, even when others can’t see it.” — Tomeka Jones

Now, everyone has a story behind the beginning of their business. What inspired you to start your own business, and how has your journey been so far?

I spent 23 years in the military, serving my country but after retirement, I felt lost without a true sense of identity. My turning point came when I interned with a non-profit organization, Grace After Fire, and the CEO, Mia, asked me a simple yet profound question: “Who is Tomeka? Without all of the titles and labels” Choked up and unable to answer, I began to cry. It was then that I realized I needed to embark on a journey of self-love and self-discovery.

Tomeka, Thank you for your service. Now, tell us about the pivotal moment when you knew your business idea had great potential.

My pivotal moment was a few years ago during my self-healing journey. One day the word “Flawless” appeared to me out of nowhere. You know those moments when a word just pops into your head and won’t let go?

Well, for me, that word was “flawless.” But wait, it didn’t stop there. Over the next few days, three more words appeared: resilient, self-love, and confidence. I remember thinking, “Okay, self, what in the world does this mean?”

Fast forward to a week later. I was standing in front of my closet — my sacred space filled with tons of T-shirts. Seriously, if you know me, you know I love, love, love T-shirts. I’m practically the queen of T-shirts! So, there I was, rummaging through my collection, trying to find the perfect one to throw on, when — boom! — that word “flawless” popped back into my head. But this time, it brought a whole vision with it.

Suddenly, I saw myself not just wearing T-shirts but using them as a way to share my story and empower other women. I thought, “OMG, this is super dope! I can inspire women and share my journey, all through a T-shirt. And the best part? I’ll never have to speak in public again!” I was ecstatic. Little did I know, this was just the beginning.

After launching my apparel brand, I thought I had found my lane. But, as life would have it, God had other plans. A few years later, my passion and purpose evolved into something much bigger — coaching, which, guess what, involves public speaking! Ha! So much for avoiding the spotlight.

So here I am today, embracing my journey from T-shirts to transformational coaching, still wearing my favorite tees but now also wearing a microphone.

Turns out, being “flawless” isn’t just about looking good in a T-shirt. It’s about resilience, self-love, and confidence — qualities that I’m now helping other women to discover in themselves.

And to think, it all started with a simple T-shirt. Life has a funny way of taking you exactly where you’re meant to be, even if it’s not quite where you thought you were going.

So, here’s to the unexpected pivots and the beautiful, sometimes ironic, paths we find ourselves on. Let’s keep embracing them, one flawless step at a time.

Which quotes or affirmations inspire you?

Everything is working out for my greater good no matter how it looks.

How are you making an impact with your business or project?

At Flawless Life Coaching, my mission is deeply personal. Having overcome my own struggles with confidence, self-love, and trauma, I understand the pain and the power that comes from healing.

My impact on women is more than just helping them set goals — it’s about unlocking their true potential and guiding them to see their beauty, worth, and strength from within.

I empower women to rise above their challenges, embrace their flaws, and live unapologetically. Together, we create lives full of confidence, resilience, and the abundance they deserve. I’ve been there, and now I’m here to help them rise.

“Don’t be afraid to take risks, trust your instincts, and embrace failure as part of your growth.” — Tomeka Jones

What advice would you give to aspiring female entrepreneurs looking to start their own ventures?

I would tell her to believe in her vision, even when others can’t see it. Start with a strong “why” — it will fuel you during the tough times. Don’t be afraid to take risks, trust your instincts, and embrace failure as part of your growth.

Surround yourself with a supportive network of people who uplift you and challenge you to grow. Invest in your personal development just as much as your business.

Lastly, take care of yourself — your health, mindset, and self-love are the foundation of your success. You’ve got everything within you to create the life and business of your dreams!

We celebrate women entrepreneurs in our publication. How do you make a difference in the lives of other women entrepreneurs?

As a life coach, I make a difference in the lives of other women entrepreneurs by helping them break through mental and emotional barriers that often hold them back from reaching their full potential.

I create a space where they feel seen, heard, and empowered to pursue their dreams with confidence. Through personalized coaching, I guide them in clarifying their vision, overcoming self-doubt, and building resilience. I help them align their mindset with their goals and offer strategies to maintain balance within their lives. My goal is to empower women to create success on their own terms, unapologetically.

How do you balance the demands of entrepreneurship with personal well-being and self-care?

I balance the demands of entrepreneurship with personal well-being and self-care by intentionally scheduling time for self-care activities, setting clear boundaries between work and personal life, and prioritizing tasks that align with my goals.

I delegate when necessary and embrace the mindset that rest is productive. Regular check-ins with myself help me stay in tune with my physical, emotional, and mental well-being, allowing me to make adjustments as needed.

My mental health is crucial. This balance keeps me energized and focused on both my personal and business success.

Provide words of wisdom in 2 -5 sentences for another woman.

  1. Get out of your own way!

2. You are a flawless woman!

3. Sis you were never meant to play small! Don’t make yourself small to please people.

4. Create your identity and embody the woman you want to become.

5. You are responsible for your own happiness.

What’s next for you?

I’m continuing my coaching work through one-on-one and group settings, but I’m also expanding into new areas. I’m stepping into more speaking engagements and sharing my story on podcasts, which is an exciting opportunity to reach and inspire even more women.

Additionally, I’m launching a Facebook book club where we’ll dive into my book together, creating a space for connection, growth, and deeper discussions. It’s all about expanding my impact while staying true to my mission of empowering women to live their most abundant lives.
