When deciding what to post on Herd, there are a few things you should keep in mind.

Audience

Decide who your audience is!

Herd was built to help people in the blockchain industry learn about your product or service. It’s up to you to decide who these people are and what they’re most interested in. Whether it’s a developer, a dApp user, or a cryptocurrency trader, the more fine tuned your content is to your audience, the more effective it will be. Also, try to keep the complexity of each interaction aligned with what you want your audience to learn.

A rule of thumb — we’ve found that it’s more effective to deliver bite-sized (2 minutes or less) interactions for non-technical topics. Remember, you can create multiple interactions on Herd: your goal should be to keep your users coming back to learn and interact with your project, rather than trying to teach everything at once.

Interaction Progression

Herd interactions are an ideal format to keep users learning about your project as it grows. As you add features to your platform, you can keep users interested and coming back for more. Herd provides you with tools to reward engagement. Offer access to cryptocurrency, software, and special features of your software.

It’s helpful to understand the progression of an interaction, so here’s a simple timeline to explain it.

Best practices:

  • Schedule new interactions a week before an important update so that your audience has the information fresh in mind, allowing you to capitalize during your launch and focus on an educated and engaged group.
  • Selectively offer rewards on critical interactions to increase engagement, ensuring users have the knowledge to use your platform.
  • Plan your interactions to progressively build a cohesive understanding of your platform. Start small, and help users to become comfortable with new concepts, gaining confidence with each interaction.

Format

Herd supports several content formats including infographics, slide decks, and videos.

Herd Media Option

  1. Slide Decks
  2. Videos
  3. Infographics

Slide Decks

Slide decks are great for segmenting your content. If you have clearly defined topics that are separate or build on each other, slide decks are a great medium. You can also easily add a voice track to a slide deck to make it a video.

Videos

Videos are great at introducing new users to your company and communicating your brand “feel”. If your company is community-oriented and has a broader social mission, this is one of the best formats to introduce yourself.

Infographics

Infographics are good for deep dives on topics. If you’re answering a specific question, or expanding on a topic, you should consider using an infographic. It’s never good to have too much text, so try to spice it up with colors and images that communicate the meaning in the text.
