In the last few weeks more than 370.000 Rohingya refugees fled from Myanmar because of an outburst of violence between the Myanmar army and Rohingya rebels. The Rohingya are often described as the world’s most persecuted minority. The predominantly Buddhist Myanmar considers them Bangladeshi but Bangladesh says they’re Burmese. Now they are fleeing the violence but there is an incredible shortage of basic needs, so who is helping them? We believe global citizens should step up and join forces to support the Rohingya refugees.

Most refugees are women and children who have fled for the violence, but now the hospitals and camps are completely packed and some people haven’t had support for many days. They arrived without anything in Bangladesh hoping they could be helped, so we cannot leave them there without water, food and basic medicines. However, with a global movement that starts with young people we want to inspire people to become part of the solution by giving money, so we can buy basic supplies like medicines and nutritious food, or by becoming a reporter for the movement in order to identify the highest needs and tell the stories of the refugees. In order to convince the world that support is desperately needed we need to raise our collective voice and share the stories of the Rohingya refugees, that’s the only way we can convince all of us to make a difference for the people.

We have global citizens on the ground to buy the supplies and hand it out in the refugee camps, some of us live directly next to the camps, so if you want to join the movement by going there, let us know. We are currently identifying the highest needs but we have already made a list of medicines and food that we will buy indefinitely.

How can you help?

Even if you do not have money to give, or you don’t want to support with your time as a volunteer, then you can still become an ambassador for the project. If you are an ambassador we can share an important message on your Facebook timeline automatically once in a while. This will help us to reach tens of thousands of people directly through Facebook. With only 10 global citizens we are already reaching more than 18.000 people, do you help us to reach 1.000.000 people?

Become an ambassador, invite your friends to be ambassadors, give money so we can buy the necessary supplies or join as a volunteer reporter to identify the needs and tell the stories of the refugees. It’s time for action! Global citizens from the Netherlands, Bangladesh, Denmark, the USA, India and other countries are calling for action. Because if we don’t take action, who will? And if we do not take action now, when will we?

Go to our campaign on Heroes & Friends where we crowdsource money, volunteers and ambassadors to make a difference in the lives of Rohingya people. Do you #StandWithRohingya together with all global citizens?

Do you also want to take action for the Rohingya, other displaced minorities, refugees or hurricane victims, start your free crowdsourcing campaign on Heroes & Friends to source cash, skills, stuff and ambassadors for free.
