I’m sure you heard the news that Security Researcher Troy Hunt recently publicized a leak of 772 million unique emails and passwords which is being called “Collection #1”, after the name of the folder in which all the information was found.

This data leak is one of the largest collections of emails and passwords ever publicized! It consists of 2,692,818,238 rows of data in 12,368 separate files totaling 87.2 GB of data. The emails and passwords in these files originated from hundreds, if not thousands, of different sites into what is called a combolist.

One thing you may not know is that HEROIC Cybersecurity had access to this data over A MONTH before it was publicized. If you were signed up on HEROIC.com with a free account or if you were using our EPIC Enterprise Service, and your information was in the leak, you would have been automatically notified, long before the media even knew this leak existed.

Our automated systems and team of analysts at HEROIC spend countless hours searching for data breaches to help make sure you, your family and your company is protected. When breached data is found it is cleaned and entered it into one of the largest repositories of data breaches in the world called the HEROIC DarkHive. We find over 150 million breached records every month and have been doing this for more than four years.

When you sign up for an account on HEROIC.com and your information is found in a breach, you are automatically notified. This usually means that it is time for a password change if your password was compromised. Breached passwords must be changed and never used again to make sure your other accounts are not vulnerable. I know that stinks, but it is one of the many easy ways you can secure your data online. We highly recommend using a password manager like LastPass.com so that you can create unique passwords for each online services you use.

Intelligently securing your data is our purpose at HEROIC Cybersecurity. We are on a mission to help you keep you and your information secure. You can’t stop your information from popping up in breaches like this but you can secure yourself and your data today by signing up for a free account at HEROIC.com.
