It’s a squat apartment with a singular room and a tiny kitchen, but Drew loves it. She’s dressed up the windows with pretty pastel curtains that let in the perfect amount of sunlight. All her delicate paintings and artworks are up on the walls, delighting visitors. A multitude of cushions dot the couch and occasionally the floor, but they’re just endearing children that sometimes get in the way.

Her apartment complex is in a Goldilocks area. Not too much affluence and not too sketchy. Just the right amount of decency. She recently bought herself a rust-colored secondhand SUV. She says it was used for only 7 months, so it’s basically a newborn. At any rate, Drew treats it like her own blood and flesh.

Friendly neighborhood cars

We went for a walk to the nearest museum. It’s a spacious and grandiose architectural mammoth. It was lovely to walk around in there for hours, marveling at the intricately designed artifacts. Drew says she comes here whenever she feels a little blue and the place picks up her mood instantly.

How to spend 100-hour long afternoons

I left with promises of frequent and long returns. Drew packed me some leftover cake and a goody bag of Atlanta memorabilia.
