It is the future of transportation. Waymo is trying make a safe and easy for people and help them to moving around.
Why is self-driving car?
Our roads will be safer. Every year, there are 94% of car accidents happened because of human choices and errors. People were distracted doing other things while driving. From psychology, it is not possible for people to doing two things at a time. We just quickly switch from doing one thing to another. People think they are able to handle both of them, however, neither of them will be well done.
Fully self-driving car will detect everything around it, which can make the best(safest) choice like people in defensive driving. Through machine learning, more miles cars driving, more situations cars studying. Therefore, because of all these cars share the same database, they will learning from each other and improving their knowledge quickly.
Our life will be easier. Speaking of future, we are living in full of self-driving cars. There will be no accidents anymore, even traffic lights will be stay in the past. Based on the maps data from Google Maps, self-driving cars will determine the fastest route for passengers and drive them to the destination. People will save a lot of energy from driving and put more effort on their work and their life. Especially in big cities, people spend hours from home to work and backwards. Self-driving cars provides the most efficient way in the city and make our life easier.
Personal Thoughts
I think the perfect view I can imagine is the society full of technology. Technology can be used in transportation, Education, Business, etc. We use sustainable energy in everywhere, there are lots of automatic equipments which save lots of time for people to focus on work. Therefore, we can finish our work early and enjoy the rest of day. Life is short, but we should make our life wonderful.
