At one of Europe’s leading startup events, Slush 2016, we were honoured with the Best B2C Startup in Europe by the Digital Top 50 Awards. Run by Google, McKinsey & Company and Rocket Internet, they sought out the most innovative Start-ups, Scale-ups and Tech for Social Impact businesses aspiring to be Europe’s digital market leaders of the future.

We beat out several other amazing high-growth startups in Europe for this prestigious award and a €50,000 cash prize. We’re thrilled as it’s a testament to all the hard work, passion and late nights our team has put in over the last eight months on a mission to revolutionise the mortgage industry.

Despite a mortgage being the biggest financial undertaking most people will make, almost 5 million UK homeowners don’t know how much their mortgage is costing them and a quarter of all mortgage holders would refuse to switch their mortgage regardless of the potential savings on offer.

Why? Because the mortgage industry is broken. Mountains of paperwork, fractured processes, and no collaboration across the various moving parts, has created an environment where consumers are afraid of even getting started or loathe to return.

This is a direct result of an industry untouched by technology for over 30 years and neglecting the needs of today’s digital consumers. Habito is on a mission to change all of that.

In eight short months, we’ve introduced the world to the first AI mortgage adviser, had well over £2bn worth of sign-ups, and have helped thousands of customers better understand their mortgage needs — and we’re only just getting started.
