Journalism students from the University of Social Sciences and Humanities in Ho Chi Minh City spent the fall semester working on stories about the lives of people in this city.

“Hey, Saigon!” is a collection of stories produced by students in the English for Journalism class at the faculty of Journalism and Communication and the University of Social Sciences and Humanities in Ho Chi Minh City.

Students began this project by exploring the streets of Ho Chi Minh City, looking for stories they discovered by observing everyday life. They worked as a team to propose their story ideas and work on the reporting, editing and publishing of these articles. Most of the students in the class are in their third year at the university and have strong English writing and speaking skills.

The course was taught by John Hatcher, a Fulbright Scholar at USSH, who is an associate professor in journalism from the Department of Communication at the University of Minnesota Duluth. For questions about the project, contact John Hatcher at jhatcher@d.umn.edu.
