Love is necessary in life. Love can make people feel a variety of emotions. It can be positive or negative emotions, but it can create a balanced life.
The reality is nearly all of us are huge emotional wrecks on the inside, but it is not something that everyone will see.
Dating TV shows
A current trend on television in Vietnam are dating shows. There are many reality shows made to match singles together such as “Bạn muốn hẹn hò?”, “Người ấy là ai,” and “Vì yêu mà đến.” These programs help people who are still single make new friends and maybe find love.
People who apply to the show have never met each other before. They have to fill out a profile about favorites, dislikes and role models. So that producers can find the right people and increase their chances of finding a date.
“Bạn muốn hẹn hò” is the most popular TV show of dating. The people who register on this program are mostly young people, single and from cities all across Vietnam. But there was one story that was different.
Love story
Xuan Long (53, Quang Tri) and Ngoc An (39, HCMC) is a couple that got married after the show. Long had been divorced to his first wife. He had previously had a family with two children. An has never married before.
Long waited 6 months to be invited onto the show. The producer needed time to find a suitable woman for his case.
He said the program viewers watched did not show full scenes. On the recording day, Long and An discussed many things about the sight of love and dreams of their partner.
Long said, “I am so thankful when I know that An has not complained about my past. Accepting a man already has a family with children is not easy for a woman. I understand and I treasure her and this love so much. She asked me to quit smoking and absolutely, I agreed with her.”
“I realized that Long is a man I looking for when he said thanks to my mother for giving birth to me and let me meet him on the show. When I talked with Long, I could see the maturity and sincerity of him. He has created for me a well-being,” An said.
An loves her parents so much. She has lived with her family since she was born. This is one of the reasons why she did not want to get married and go away from her parents.
After spending time together, they decided to give love a chance. Long has moved and started up in HCMC to make a new life with An. They have dated and become part of each other’s lives. Long and An are not perfect, but they are good matches for each other.
Love takes a while to get started. It’s never forced. People have to know the person as a friend first. Finding love has become more complicated in our generation. People don’t have much free time to hang out, make friends and find the right person.
That is the reason why people need dating programs — not only to receive but they also to have a chance to find real love.
