For nearly 10 years they have been dedicated to the circus. They have spent more than 3 years practicing roller skates together. They have become a pair of professional performers on stage. On skates, many difficult and dangerous techniques are displayed, resonating with sound, light, delicate and beautiful body art. The young couple have brought passion and excitement to circus lovers and left many emotions in the hearts of circus lovers.

Le Hung and Nha Hieu, two young circus performers, are at the peak of their careers. Recently, they won first prize in The International Circus Festival 2019 for the act named Cupid. Last year, still in that forte, performing on skates, they won first prize in the National Circus Talent 2018. They have received many compliments from professionals and audiences. When asked about the congeniality they have in their performance, Le Hung laughed: “Maybe because we are lovers.”

When partners become lovers

The circus brought them together, but roller skating made them fall for each other. “I have known Hung for ten years, but we didn’t fall in love until we practiced together roller skates together,” Hieu said.

Hung and Hieu are adventurous young people. That’s why they are attracted to roller skating. Practicing with dangerous techniques, protecting each other, love has come to them naturally. Because of that, they can perform with all their passion and confidence. Hieu said when she performs the technique called “swing in the air,” she has no fear at all because she knows Hung will protect her no matter what happens.

Their performances are always about a couple in love, and their love fills the air. “I was like wow when the man carried his partner and spun her super fast, it was fantastic but also gave me a heart attack. How could they perform so confidently?” Vy Nguyen, an audience member said.

“I wonder whether they are in love or not, because the emotions were so real,” said another audience member.

Accidents cannot kill the passion

Roller skating is a dangerous act. Performers, with their skates on, do difficult techniques like swing in the air, spin around… on a-very-small-round board. Accidents are unavoidable. “The moment when you fall off of the board, that feeling is terrible,” Nha Hieu said.

Le Hung explained: “It’s hard to tell when you have an accident. It’s more like a psychological battle, because roller skating is different from others. If you have an accident, you’ll have to practice again like a beginner. There is no other choice.”

But accidents cannot kill their passion. “What doesn’t kill you makes you stronger.” No matter what happens, they do not give up. Because circus is more than their career, it is their enthusiasm. Nha Hieu laughs: “If I don’t practice, I will feel itchy.” Le Hung also said: “The feeling when you perform on stage is unexplainable, when the audiences clap and are interested in your act.”

Le Hung and Nha Hieu conquer people with all their enthusiastic and hard work. When their hearts beat together, they truly inspire the audiences.

“When you’re in love with someone or something, don’t be afraid of challenges” — Nha Hieu.
