We’re pretty damn excited to announce that we’ve acquired Aozora.

Aozora is essentially a mobile-only version of Kitsu. Every day, its global community talks about the same nerdy crap we do, they’re just as friendly as us and their community is about as large as ours is.

Why we’re teaming up

Together, we’ll be one platform where filthy weebs can unite to track, share and discover anime and manga. Aozora doesn’t have a web presence and Kitsu has not had an official mobile presence. Together, we can fill the gaps of one another, and offer insight from a place of experience.

The Aozora app has been rewritten from scratch and rebranded as Kitsu, allowing the 600,000+ users between our communities to use the app equally. Aozora users will not lose their existing content with this update.

As of this writing, the app ‘Kitsu: Anime’ can now be downloaded from both the iOS and Android app store.

This can and should be considered something of a beta.

Our united community will maintain its playful and friendly attitude, and we hope that our longstanding Kitsu users make the new faces in our community feel at home.

In the following months we will continue to release new features, fix bugs and add polish to the iOS and Android app.

It’s a great time to be a weeb.
