From Bristol to California
First up this week is Mutez with his old-school beat GpsyKng. A producer of many names who has previously blown my mind with various former projects. GpsyKng is short boom-bap beat that provides instant vibes. The occasional scratch sample, perfectly timed gaps and various effects combine to create the perfect playing ground for an MC.
Next up, Cosmic Lvst is a very tasty mix between electronic music and Hip Hop that was featured on a compilation for the Cosmic Dust collective. Tzapa fuses a slow, Dubstep-esque beat with jazzy keys and soothing vocal chops.
Midway through we’re going to throw you into the depths of a swirling, sonic, lo-fi underworld created by Maru. Teasing guitar samples float seamlessly between the submerged pads and a constant vinyl crackle that melt into one to create an extremely relaxing beat in Mystic Cave.
Rose Bud, a short single, features eerie guitar plucks and crunchy textures creating a minimalistic, emotional introduction into the mind of California-based producer Mortis.
Plucked from a beautiful project called detox, we have the instant ‘pick-me-up’ vibe of malibu by clvs. Consisting of subtle percussive hits, perfectly placed bass notes, heavenly lead samples and a punchy kick-snare combination. Malibu leaves you no choice but to admire and replay.
