Ambient and intriguing soundscapes

Nishiki. —Someday

Nishiki kicks things off this week with a natural, bright soundscape filled with bird chirps, an enticing melody, deep-seated pads and heavy-hitting, but not over-bearing drums.

j. roosevelt — Sandalwood

Plucked from j. roosevelt’s latest EP, ‘Meditations on Silence’, Sandalwood is a relaxing, progressive track featuring multiple layers of sounds. An elegant, recurring melody floats around the hypnotising drums and soothing bassline to create a memorable daydream.

el. —Leisure[88]

Maintaining the unplanned mellow theme this week, Leisure [88] is a chilled introduction to the talents of el. A punchy kick-snare combination and shuffling hi-hats launch a compact yet delicate sonic-expedition. Shortly after, el. introduces soft pads that linger in the background whilst the vocalised melody takes the main stage throughout.

dream Entact. & slr. — Ái

The first collab featured on Shout Out, Ái, is a venture into the dual-brain of dream Entact and slr. An eerie melody fuses its way into your memory quickly, accompanied by various small sound effects and blips, drum variations and a fitting vocal sample.

goonf!sh. — gotta_maintain

The final feature this week has been out for some time, but its such a gem that I couldn’t leave it out. goonf!sh has obvious talents when it comes to music production, displaying it perfectly in the sample-based gotta_maintain.
