I absolutely love reading, and some of my favourite questions to ask (and answer) are:

  • “What are you reading now?”
  • “What book(s) would you recommend for X?”
  • “What are your top X books?”

Amazon have a really accessible Affiliate Program — so why not get involved with it?

I’m personally not looking to make gazillions from it — but it would certainly be nice to get a gift certificate now and then that can pay for my next book.

So, I wanted to make it easy for me to quickly generate Amazon Associates links. Thankfully, Amazon have actually done a good job at making this possible.

I tried to use the Amazon Publisher Studio extension, but it doesn’t work for non-US affiliates (confirmed with Amazon via email).

Set up a Chrome “Search Engine” to quickly search for a product

  1. In Chrome, go to “chrome://settings/searchEngines” (copy/paste into the address bar).
  2. Click the “Add” button under “Other Search Engines”.
  3. Under “Search Engine”, enter “Amazon Associates” (this is what is displayed in Chrome when searching).
  4. Under “Keyword”, enter “aa” (or another desired value) for the shortcut.
  5. Under URL, enter the following:
    https://affiliate-program.amazon.co.uk/home/productlinks/search/?category=all&keywords=%s
  6. Click the “Add” button.

Using the Search Engine

  1. Open up a new tab, type “aa” (or your desired shortcut) into the addresss bar and hit the TAB key.
  2. Type in what you want to search for and hit ENTER.
  3. You’re done! You can make the link in the search results.

Hope this helps other non-US Associates get what they need!
