Do you know The Pretenders? Chrissie Hynde wasn’t only their lead singer, but managed the band and composed the songs. There are only a few groups that have a frontwoman like Mrs. Hynde. Maybe Blondie has the same role in her combo.
The core of Heart was the two sisters Ann and Nancy Wilson, who founded the group in the seventies. They started as a folk group with an excellent album called “Dog and Butterfly”, which is one of my all-time favorites. Then they turned to classic rock, releasing a bundle of songs that Kiss or Led Zeppelin could have produced. Indeed, Heart covered “Stairway…”, by the way.
And in 2016 they are still active in the music business. “Beautiful Broken” is the name of their latest album. Notably, the second track is named “Two” indeed, but this song actually describes the love affair between two persons who don’t care what people might say.
The song is short, but shows that there must be no correlation between time and content. “Two” wasn’t written by the Wilsons like the other songs on the album, but is also a really great tune.
