The Story Behind Their Eureka Moment!
Known as the man of many titles, Louis Von Ahn and his PhD student Severic Hacker sold some of their profitable companies to Google at the age of 21. Post which, Von Ahn had been toying with the idea of creating something related to education and the huge demand of students who wanted to learn a language got him thinking. Founded at the end of 2009, Duolingo became one of the most popular language-learning apps within a few months and there are various reasons for the same. Want to know more? Read on…
Difference Between Duolingo And Other Language Apps
With over 1.2 billion active users and more than 37 languages, Duolingo is the foremost name that comes to light when we talk about language learning apps. You don’t even have to create an account, just choose the language of your desire and learn without even burning a hole in your pocket!
However, sometimes it is compulsory to make an account to save your progress. The only thing you’ve to do is just cuddle up at the corner of the room and start learning. Plus, you can even test yourself after each topic with their simple listening exercises, flashcard games and much more. Guess what? The app will leave you daily notifications and reminders too so that you don’t miss a single chance on honing your skills.
Future Plans
Going forward, Loun Von Ahn has claimed that they’ll be working on a way to teach more about how to have conversations in other languages and now they’ve collaborated with the various schools as teaching tools for children. In fact, among the other apps in the market, Duolingo has successfully managed to stand out in the crowd with the positivity and determination to provide education to students at relatively low cost. Isn’t it great?
