Have you always dreamed that someday your artwork would be on view at a museum? Or do you just love to draw and create? Either way, we have a contest just for you! For the High Museum of Art’s next community-driven installation on the Woodruff Art Center’s Carroll Slater Sifly Piazza, designer Tanya Aguiñiga is asking Georgians ages five and older to design a piñata to be part of HAPPY JOYLANTA. Tanya’s community-based work is centered on amplifying voices through design-thinking and craft methodologies. For the High, she is creating a space that invites wonder and offers a spirit of celebration through partnerships with local communities.

So, how can you participate, and what is Tanya looking for?

Tanya wants you to think about what brings you joy. Then, draw or doodle your idea as an imaginative, expressive piñata (of any shape or size) that pushes the visual boundaries of celebration. Tanya will select twenty winning submissions, and then the talented team at The Piñata Factory in Smryna (Señora Rafaella and her son) will craft these piñatas out of weather-proof material to be included in the larger installation on the Piazza. After the installation closes, those with winning submissions will be able to collect their piñatas from the High.
