Exhibitions
Stephen Burks: Shelter in Place: On view through March 5, 2023
This exhibition explores ideas concerning domesticity — namely asking how we can design our interiors to enable joyful living while empowering creativity. It is the first exhibition in over a decade to survey Burks’s workshop-based design practice, presenting several key projects from the last ten years. These industrial design and craft-centered projects can be seen in conversation with Shelter in Place, a new speculative project that explores the visionary possibilities of design.

Deana Lawson: October 7, 2022–February 19, 2023
Located in the Lucinda Weil Bunnen Photography Galleries and adjacent galleries on the Lower Level of the Wieland Pavilion, this exhibition is the first museum survey dedicated to the photographer. Working primarily in photography, Lawson investigates and challenges conventional representations of Black identities and bodies. Her work evokes a range of photographic histories and styles, including family albums, studio portraiture, and staged tableaux; she also employs documentary pictures and appropriated images.

Rodin in the United States: Confronting the Modern: October 21, 2022–January 15, 2023
Encompassing more than seventy works, this exhibition follows Rodin’s rise to eminence in the United States due in large part to the collectors, critics, and curators who helped make it happen. The exhibition shows Rodin working across an array of media — from bronze and marble to terracotta and plaster — and illuminates his creative process, from studies and maquettes to completed works.

Monir Farmanfarmaian: A Mirror Garden: November 18, 2022–April 9, 2023
This is the first posthumous exhibition at an American museum for Monir Shahroudy Farmanfarmaian (1922–2019), one of Iran’s most celebrated and revered visual artists, known internationally for her geometric mirror sculptures that combine the mathematical order and beauty of ancient Persian architectural motifs with the forms and patterns of hard-edged, postwar abstraction.

As we enter an exciting exhibition season, we have several special events to offer. From Friday Jazz, HIGH Frequency Fridays, UPS Second Sundays, and Toddler Thursdays to Teen Art Afternoons, Toddler Saturdays, and various talks and lectures, we have something interesting for everyone. Below are a few highlights, but we recommend visiting our website for an up-to-date list of current and upcoming events.
Toddler Saturdays: October 1 and November 5
Designed for children ages fifteen months through three years and their caregivers, Toddler Saturdays engage children’s creativity and explore monthly topics with related artwork.
Teen Art Afternoon: HIGH-lloween: October 1
Get into the spooky spirit and celebrate an early Halloween with the Teen Team. Join us for engaging art making and tours. Free for teens!
HIGH Frequency Friday: Atlanta Pride Edition: October 7
What better way to celebrate Atlanta Pride than with dancing, drinks, and drag performances? At October’s HIGH Frequency Friday, set out on a musical journey with Ree de la Vega of A/V Radio.
UPS Second Sunday: October 9
On the second Sunday of each month, we offer free admission for all visitors and special family-friendly programming! Enjoy art-making activities, performances, and the High’s permanent collection and special exhibitions.
Inquiring Minds: Deana Lawson: October 25
Curious about Deana Lawson? Inquiring Minds invites participants to explore the exhibition through small group conversation.
As They Appear to Be: Constructing Images through Photography: October 26–December 7
Offered in tandem with Deana Lawson, this online photography class will prompt participants to construct distinctive smartphone photographs that speak to notions of identity, representation, and human relationships.
Rodin: Myths, Methods, Monuments, Museums: October 27–November 17
This multiweek course, led by Maria P. Gindhart, will examine sculptor Auguste Rodin (1840–1917), his oeuvre, and his artistic context and influence.
Inquiring Minds: Rodin: November 8
Curious about Rodin in the United States? Inquiring Minds invites participants to explore the exhibition through small group conversation.
Conversations with Contemporary Artists: Stephen Burks: November 10
Stephen Burks, in conversation with curator and writer Glenn Adamson, will discuss his exhibition Stephen Burks: Shelter in Place and the ways that it explores ideas concerning domesticity.
Tickets
We recommend planning ahead of time for a seamless visit. Prepaid tickets ensure your entry to the Museum and are available for purchase on our website. For tickets to a specific event, please check that event’s page. If you’d like free admission to the Museum and discounted prices on special events, consider subscribing to the High’s Museum Pass or becoming a member!
Parking
There are several parking options available near the Woodruff Arts Center:
Woodruff Arts Center Garage (located off Arts Center Way across from the MARTA station)
Closest to our campus, this garage offers free member parking (limited to daytime museum visitation: Tuesday–Saturday, 10 a.m.–5 p.m.; Sunday, 12 noon–5 p.m., excluding Second Sundays) and the following:
Weekdays
(Monday through Friday before 5 p.m.)
- First 30 minutes: Free
- 30 minutes to 1 hour: $8
- 1 to 5 hours: $16
- 5+ hours: $18
- High Museum of Art members (daytime only): Free

Nights and Weekends
(Monday through Friday after 5 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday)

This garage is across the street from the Woodruff Arts Center campus.

- $1 for each 15 minutes up to a daily maximum of $12
- $9 for museum visits and events when prepaid at lot entrance

- $0.75 per half hour
- $1.50 hourly up to $10 daily maximum
- $10 special event rate
Interpark Garage at 1293 Peachtree Street, N.E.
- $2 for first 20 minutes

Dining
Looking for dining options before events or after visits? The Woodruff Arts Center campus is home to Twelve Eighty — Inspired Dining and Refuge Coffee Co., which are just a few steps across from the Museum’s entrance. There are also several dining options located within Colony Square, which is a short walk from the Woodruff Arts Center campus. And if you’re looking to sightsee around Midtown Atlanta, there are restaurants sprinkled on just about every corner.
And for those in need of a spot to sip coffee or picnic while enjoying the (slightly) cooler weather, our Piazza is ready and waiting!
