It’s a busy week for you, you know how we know? It’s always a busy week. That’s the thing about your mind, it fills all the moments with more than you can possible do. So you know what we want you to do to cope with it all? Drink…LOTS!

I’m not talking about your favorite bourbon, wine, or beer. Not even coffee, energy drinks, or soft drinks. I’m talking about clean, old fashioned, natural water.

Yeah, yeah, yeah. I know. Everybody is talking about how you need to drink more water. There’s a reason, it’s because it’s true. The vast majority of you are chronically dehydrated. But all the news about needing more water tends to fall on deaf ears. Since most of you reading this are in the veterinary profession, this is going to come as a “well duh.” But how often do you have to tell an animal to drink? As long as they have access to it, you don’t really have to tell one to drink. True, if it’s in your clinic and you are giving fluids, you’re telling it to drink, but that’s different.

So here’s what we want you to do. Be “mindful” about drinking water. Actually that’s what we would like to say, unfortunately you’re probably so disconnected from your body you don’t know how much water to drink, unlike the the healthy animals you treat.

So here’s what you have to do. Get out of bed in the morning and drink water. How much? As much as you can as quickly as you can, preferably 24–30 oz. Then go do some more of your morning routine (if you’re not sure what to do with your morning routine, stay tuned, we’ll cover more of that soon) then drink more water. Before you leave your home, drink more. That’s three doses of water so far. And we’re just getting started. Oh, don’t forget to take water with you…everywhere. As the saying goes, “if you think, drink” so you need to be drinking all day long. Now you’re asking, “how often do I have to do this?” It should be an every day occurrence. But let’s go for 10 days as a start.

What’s the disadvantage? You’ll be in the bathroom more than usual.

What’s the advantage?

  • You’ll realize how dehydrated you really are.
  • You’ll realize how little water you actually drink.
  • You’ll discover how much more energy you will have during the day.
  • And the bonuses? Greater focus, mental clarity, clearer skin, less sugar cravings, healthier eating.

So what do ya think? Let’s do some shots!

If you’re wanting to increase productivity, enhance your career, and become more intent about improving your health, forget the shots, it’s time for a pint! Drink Up!
