Mothers Don’t Own Their Children

I was never
yours to keep

I was not born
for your pleasure

I’m glad I brought
you joy

But, it was never
my purpose

Children are not
born to make
their parents happy

It’s meant to be
the other way around

But, it’s okay now
I can let it go

For I know
God showed you
I wasn’t yours
to own

How were
you to know?

I forgive you
and let all that go.
