The shop is only ever in town in the run-up to Christmas and always in a different place. This year Cards for Good Causes are in Petersfield from October 6 to December 17 and can be found on the High Street opposite Superdrug.

Manager Julia Crook said: “70p out of every pound we make goes straight to charity. The shop provides a one-stop shop for charity sales, we sell all sorts of Christmas gifts and not just cards.”

The shop sells a range of Christmas goods including advent calendars, wrapping paper, gift tags and books.

Cards for Good Causes was founded in 1959 when a group of charities came together and formed ‘The 1959 Group of Charities and started selling cards from empty shops in town centres.

Just a few of the charities the group support include Age UK, Barnardo’s, Macmillan Cancer and Save the Children.
