Ever wondered who lives in your local area?

Badger Farm Community Centre is holding a Chat Tea Café for you to meet others from the community.

The café will run every third Monday of the month, from January 2019 and will take place in the Bushfield Room, of the community centre from 1pm–3pm.

Debbie Deeney, who came up with the idea for the café, said: ‘I wanted to give the community centre back to the community. As well as getting people involved and giving something back to the community, myself. This is especially important for people who wouldn’t normally be involved.’

On October 22, an initial meeting of volunteers took place. During this session they introduced themselves and explained why they were volunteering with the most common response being ‘I would like to give something back to my local community’.

There was a range of volunteers and it was impressive to see people ranging from students to retirees, all coming together to work towards a common goal, of a better community.

A follow-up meeting occurred on November 26 where discussions took place about how the set-up would work. A charity representative from Sainsbury’s also attended this meeting and agreed to support the café in its early stages. Debbie said: ‘We are blown away by the amount of support and help they are willing to give us.’

If you would like to participate in Chat Tea Café, but cannot reach Badger Farm Community Centre by yourself, contact enquiries@bfobrca.org, they will try to sort something out. Otherwise just turn up to the first meeting on January 28 at 1pm.
