Forever Together praised for mental health charity work
A funeral director has been praised after their fundraising for a charity specialising in mental health.
Forever Together, in Charlotte Street, Portsmouth, organised a charity ball last October with mental health charity Mind’s Solent branch, which raised £5,565.
Wayne and Lorraine Osborne, the parents of Jordan Osborne, who tragically took his own life last May, have expressed their gratitude for the work of Denise Chapman and the other funeral directors at Forever Together.
Mr Osborne said: “They have supported us through everything.
“With the help of Forever Together, we are trying to prevent families from suffering in the same way that we did.”
Mrs Osborne said that she, and the rest of the family, will be taking part in the Great South Run later this year for Mind, in memory of her late son.
Jordan’s parents also received several signed LPs from singer Boy George, to be auctioned off for charity.
Victoria Hall, Head of Business and Corporate Relations for Solent Mind, said: “Forever Together and the Osbornes did huge amounts of work to organise the ball in a very short time frame.
“The ball raised awareness of the importance of mental health — that we need to keep talking about it, and supporting one another — while also raising an incredible sum of money that can go towards our services for the community.
“We are so very grateful.”
Solent Mind offer services for children and young people, and adults across Hampshire who struggle with their mental health.
Denise Chapman, the head funeral director at Forever Together, described the Osbornes as a “special family”.
She said: “Seeing Jordan’s parents’ attitude and willingness to help other sufferers inspired me to help out too.”
Forever Together are planning on organising another event later this year with the Osbornes, to continue fundraising for Solent mind.
