Equestrian enthusiasts came out in force to Brendon Stud to raise £2,500 for Children in Need.

The annual charity show, based in the scenic Sussex countryside, encouraged supporters to wear anything spotty or come as superheroes while participating in show jumping.

The weekend of fund raising, which ran from 17 to 18 November, attracted children and adults of all ages. Rosettes were awarded for those who came first to tenth in the Area Eventing, as well as prizes for the best fancy dress.

Caraleen Light, event organiser, said: “The format of the show works really well and grows year on year. We have riders as young as two here tomorrow and it’s like Pudsey city with them all in yellow.”

This year the charity show was extended across the weekend, where younger riders showcased marvellous mares and gorgeous geldings in the indoor arena on Sunday.

Ruby Light, winner of the 15 and under Area Eventing, said: “Children in Need is important because it’s helping lots of children who are not as lucky as everybody else.”

She added: “I would like the money to go to different charities like Chestnut Tree House, because every child has the right to help if they need it.”
