Children of Portsmouth got up close and personal with Eagles and Hawks as one of Portsmouth’s marinas transformed into a flight arena for the day.

The ‘birds of prey’ were the latest attraction Port Solent used to help them entertain Portsmouth’s children once again, as part of its kids club scheme.

The feathered friends were recruited from the Owl, Raptor and Reptile Centre, and performed flight demonstrations to the excited crowd.

This was one of many kids club experiences that the team at Port Solent give for free to children during the school holidays.

Events planner at Port Solent, Lisa Fowler is responsible for organising these events and believes it is very important to give children these free experiences.

She said: ‘Being a parent is quite expensive in the holidays, so it’s nice to be able to go somewhere that doesn’t cost anything and have your kids entertained.’

The birds of prey were greeted in the morning by many eager children, and took flight at 12pm and 3pm for demonstrations.

Peter Cadwell, 69, from Portsmouth attended the event with his grandchildren.

Mr Cadwell said: ‘It was a very impressive show, and I would definitely come again as it was a great experience.’

These kids club days run every Tuesday and Thursday during school holidays.

The next event is a disco which is running on Thursday 18th April. For more information, visit: @ThePortSolent on Twitter.
