Courteeners hit Hampshire in style during their winter tour.

The indie rock band played hits from their five studio albums at Southampton’s O2 Guildhall across a two-hour live set with support by female artist, Zuzu.

The set was split into rock and acoustic, with front man Liam Fray leading the acoustic section of the show, and they certainly didn’t disappoint.

The long wait in between the support act and Courteeners meant the football ‘lads’ were let out, so chants and shouting were ongoing for at least 30 minutes, before the band finally came out.

They kicked the show off with fan-favourite Are You In Love With A Notion? followed by Cavorting. It definitely distracted the chanting teenagers and lifted the atmosphere in an instant.

They then continued playing some of their much-loved rock songs, followed by an acoustic intermission.

This was my first time seeing Courteeners, and although very enjoyable, I didn’t expect to come out soaking wet. It was a sweaty time of being pushed around in mosh pits, as well as beer being thrown all over the place.

The fans did not care how messy they got during the gig, when songs such as Modern Love was played, fans threw themselves into the depths of the crowd.

It was all worth it when their most popular song, Not Nineteen Forever, was played at the end. For me, it was the highlight of the show.

Everyone in the venue were singing the song as loud as they could, a red flare of smoke was even set off during this incredible performance.

Overall, I think it was an amazing gig by Courteeners, and despite coming home soaked, the atmosphere could not be faulted and made the experience ten times better.
