The Boulevard in Waterlooville, which is facing the sale.

Waterlooville Precinct is up for sale for £3.5 million, it has been revealed.

Local businesses are concerned for their future, after it was declared that ‘The Boulevard’, a section of the town centre, has been put up for sale. Businesses located here include Betfred, O2 and Giorgio’s.

Business owners have expressed surprise at the news. They say they found out online, rather from their landlords.

Emma Goodrham, from Giorgio’s, said: ‘The landlord has not told us anything. As far as we know we have a 10 year lease, but we don’t know if that will be protected.

‘We don’t know how it is going to affect us. We are not worried at this stage, there is no point in worrying about something you can’t change.’

Eileen Stapley, who owns Pleasantly Plump, said: ‘I was shocked. We only just moved here in May. I’m hoping I’ll find out more at a meeting I have been invited too, but I haven’t been notified by my landlord.

‘It is a bit worrying, especially as we know the same is happening to Wellington Way.

‘It’s going to be a ghost town.’

Myddelton & Major, a letting company who manages the renting of the majority of the precinct were quick to reassure tenants.

Simon Lee, a representative of the company, said: ‘It’s completely safe. There are currently 23 properties on the precinct, 21 of which are let out, with the 22nd property deal closing in the coming weeks.

‘It’s not any sort of slight on the town, it’s pretty much just an investment scheme.’
