Rose-Colored Sin Ain’t All that Bad

Satan tries to get us to look at sin through rose-colored glasses. Some folks want to find any excuse to see sin not as sin just because they want it that way. it’s like a small child that wants something their way so badly, knowing they have been told by their parents they cannot have it, they still protest, “but I want it.”

Looking at life through rose-colored glasses is the tendency to only look at things in an unrealistically positive light. Satan tell us, “that sin doesn’t look that bad to me.” We should look at sin the way God does and to understand that, we must go to the Bible.

To mature as Christians, we must see sin as God sees it. Through growth we should begin to conform to the image of Christ (Romans 8:29), meaning to become more and more like Him. The Bible teaches that God hates sin because:

  1. of His nature. God is light and in Him is no darkness at all. Therefore He hates sin.
  2. it caused the death of His son on the cross such.
  3. it causes the death of His creation — you and me.

If God hates sin and we are to grow to be more and more like Him, we should also hate sin. If something is wrong then we shouldn’t sugar coat it but instead, call it by its true name: sin. Amos 5:15 “Hate evil.” Never let the words, “it’s not all that bad” ever come out of your mouth. Hebrews 2:5 — exercise your senses so that you will KNOW the difference between goodand evil. If you can’t tell, you haven’t matured.

In God’s eyes sin is part of the world that we should not love and will pass away (1 John 2:15). Why is sin that big of a deal? Because it has separated you from God so that He no longer hears you (Isaiah 59:1). So how can you ever say sin isn’t all that bad knowing what it does?
