Tip #7: Follow Up with Contacts

Re-engagement. Something we have very little time to think about, but can be extremely helpful to any business. Most of our customers run on their own schedule, and don’t fit neatly into when we need them to contact us or perform a certain function.

We may need to follow up with them, or prompt them a few times before they are ready to talk or move forward in some way. With a few different filter views in Highrise, you can single out people you haven’t spoken to in a certain amount of time, and follow up with them.

Here’s how to filter contacts in Highrise by the last time you spoke with them:

1. Go to your main contacts page.

2. Click on “all people & companies”.

3. Select “people without emails since”.

4. Click on “one month ago”, or choose the date range you’d like.

5. Choose the contact you need to reach out to again.

6. From here you can either…

  • Use the Gmail integration in Highrise to email the contact directly by clicking on the “Send an email to…” tab.
  • Click on the email address on the right hand side of the contact to send an email from your normal email app. Highrise will add your dropbox address to the BCC field automatically so you can track the email.

This can also be done with notes and tags, if you need a slightly different way of filtering people to follow up with. Need an automatic reminder? You can set recurring tasks for contacts, and be notified to follow up with them on an interval of your choosing.
