I’m fighting for Hillary because she cares

I was adopted as a baby. I wouldn’t be here if somebody hadn’t helped me. And since I was a small child, my parents instilled in me one important value: Spend your life helping people — and that’s how I’ve spent my career.

In 1973, I joined the military because I believed it was my responsibility to make sure we have the country we want. I want my great-grandchildren (my second was born on Friday) to be able to enjoy this great country, to know what a great country we live in. But I want them to give back so others can enjoy it, too. If we don’t teach our children that we’ve got a responsibility to give back to our country, we won’t have one.

Many years after I left the military, I became a nurse because I wanted to continue to help people in need. I worked at substance abuse agencies and my specialty was Case Management for people with HIV. I work with an elderly population to make sure their daily needs are met, ensuring they have food, proper medication and needed utilities.

I’ve seen HIV go from a death sentence to something as manageable as diabetes — that’s because people like Hillary Clinton invested resources in helping people.

When I look back on what Hillary’s done over her life, her focus on helping children is unparalleled. She’s helped set up schools to make sure all children have access to a quality education. She believes that every child has the right to learn.

My mother said we have to help each other. And we have to fight for people who want to help others. That’s why I’m fighting for Hillary at my field office in Alexandria — and I want you to fight for her, too.
