Veterans and military family members from all over Virginia came together this week to talk about why they support Hillary Clinton―and to organize for Democrats ahead of the upcoming election. Want to get involved? Click here!
At events in Arlington, Virginia Beach, and Richmond, veterans, military families, and elected officials came together to talk about why they believe Hillary Clinton is the only candidate ready to be Commander-in-Chief.
At each event, people shared their stories, talked about why it’s so important for the military community to get involved in this election, and learned more about how to support Hillary in their own communities.
Retired Lieutenant General Dan Christman, former superintendent of West Point and NATO representative, shared his personal story of getting to know Hillary.
Military families policy expert Sue Hoppin weighed in as a military spouse, praising the fact that Hillary’s policies take on the unique challenges military families face.
Lieutenant Governor Ralph Northam told veterans and their families to make sure their voices are heard in November.
“The most important poll that’s out there is the one on November 8,” Northam, an army veteran of eight years, told the crowd, “and we need to make sure everybody here goes and that they take their friends, relatives and neighbors because that’s the way we get folks elected.”
And Marine Corps veteran Jimmy Ochan, who arrived in this country on a refugee visa, shared the moving story of his time in the armed forces …
… as his wife and son looked on.
“I am here for Hillary because I want my son to grow up in a safe world,” Jimmy said.
“I believe that she will make a great Commander-in-Chief. That’s why my wife and I get involved. Because we believe in her.”
