Taking Advantage of College Services
There are many services available to you at college that can help with a variety of things. These can range from helping to manage your money, reducing stress, guidance in choosing classes and much more. Below is a list of some important college services that most colleges have that you should definitely take advantage of.
Academic Advisement & Career Development

Many colleges have programs designed to enhance your professional skills and prepare you for your future career. Use these career development centers to join programs, learn which classes to take, how to contact companies to apply for internships/jobs, how to communicate with professionals in your field, prepare your resume, and get help finding the job you want.

International Education
There are many students who would love a chance to study abroad for a semester. The easiest way to do this is to sign up for a semester abroad by visiting the international education center, or study abroad office on campus. They can provide you with study abroad options that fit your major, but most importantly your budget to make it a semester of a lifetime!
Many colleges hold study abroad information fairs on campus to promote their programs. If you have always wanted to travel abroad to study, visit the international education center, or your study abroad office.

Tutoring Center
If you’re having difficulty in class, with studying, or not a good note taker — stop by your tutoring center. Tutors are an extremely valuable resource that can mean the difference between passing and failing. If you’re ever having trouble in a class and need some help you should not be ashamed to get help from a tutor. On the other hand, if you ever need to make some money, becoming a tutor is a great way to get paid while also helping struggling students. Either way, the tutoring center is a service of great importance on campus.
Rec Center Programs
Are you looking to get exercise and get in shape? The rec centers at most colleges have a variety of programs for people that want to get physically active. Whether it’s yoga, dancing, weight-lifting or even rock-climbing, most rec centers have opportunities for you to get involved and have fun.
Counseling
At college there will be many stressors that come at you, and at times it can feel overwhelming. The counseling center on campus is designed to give students somewhere they can go to get emotional and mental help with any issues that may be facing them. The professional faculty at these centers are there for you, and you should not hesitate to go to them with any issue that is bothering you, even if the issue you are having is private. Use the counseling center for any help you need.
There are many other services that universities have, such as health resources, LGBTQ resources, Diversity centers, financial resource centers and more. Each of these services can help you in a variety of ways. You’re already paying for them with your tuition, so you shouldn’t be afraid to use them. Look out for them on campus and know that they are always there for you.
