Hillrise Ventures today announces an investment into Alien Worlds — one of the most popular blockchain games in existence and the only DeFi game cross-denominated on both the WAX and Ethereum blockchains. Hillrise Ventures is the private investment arm of Hillrise Group.

Alien Worlds is an already established presence in the crypto-gaming niche of the blockchain industry. As blockchain-enabled gaming and gamified decentralized finance continues to snowball momentum we are more than excited to back a startup leading this charge.

Alien Worlds is a DeFi NFT metaverse where you can collect and play with unique digital items. The game sports an ecosystem built around communities (DAOs), incentivization mechanisms such as land ownership and land exploitation, and a competitive game mode called ‘Thunderdome’ where players can face off against each other. Future additions to Alien Worlds will include missions and digital item interoperability.

As of writing Alien Worlds have amassed a large and dedicated community, consistently ranking the game at the top end of general dApp usage and in the top ranks specifically for games. Launched in December 2020, Alien Worlds has already surpassed player counts of arguably higher profile games such as Axie Infinity and The Sandbox.

Dacoco Gmbh — the developer of Alien Worlds — has concluded a fundraise of over USD $2m in investments from Hillrise Ventures, Animoca Brands, Longling Capital, 3Commas, Digital Assets Group, and others.

“The success of Alien Worlds speaks for itself having solidified its place after only a handful of months as one of the most used dApps in blockchain, let alone the gaming niche. The cross-denomination across both the Ethereum and WAX blockchains enables smooth and importantly cheap and fast gameplay mechanics which are crucial for any blockchain-enabled games. We look forward to the continued success of the Alien Worlds ecosystem as each gameplay phase goes live.”
