Hillrise Ventures today announces an investment in insurance marketplace provider Tidal Finance (‘Tidal’). Hillrise Ventures is the private investment arm of Hillrise Group.

We are excited to share our recent investment into a newcomer to the blockchain insurance ecosystem. As decentralized finance continues to blossom and mature we are pleased to back a startup supporting an underserved product category in the industry.

Tidal is a Balancer-like insurance market that allows users to create custom insurance pools for one or more assets. The open nature of the marketplace will impact capital efficiency by fostering competition among different insurance pools.

By positioning as the go-to-marketplace for smart contract cover we see a clear opportunity for Tidal to gain traction with their unique take on risk determination and incentive model for both users and suppliers.

“Insurance is a product category we are very excited about and it’s one that is greatly underserved. The insurance market is a high-value piece of the puzzle and will significantly reduce the friction that is slowing the growth of DeFi more broadly. Tidal Finance can fill this insurance void and consequently enable smoother growth and adoption of new products and the broader blockchain industry as a whole.”

Daniel Dal Bello, Director of Hillrise Group

“We are excited to have Hillrise Ventures joining our investor league. Hillrise has done some insightful research into the cryptocurrency landscape and especially in the insurance space. Such expertise will benefit Tidal’s growth in the long run.”
