Should one do the Kirtana of Beeja Mantras? This is confusion in India now. New traditions and masters give advice about the process as per their understanding. Before going to this point, we should understand, in this matter, intellectual evaluations will not going to help while following this process related to Mantra.

There is no mantra meant for Kirtana. Those have been given Deeksha of a Mantra with due procedure, only those people can recite the Mantra. Even they can’t do Kirtan of Mantras. This is madness, ‘Adharma’ in the name of ‘Dharma’. Some people don’t even know about this. Those who don’t know, they don’t have devotion to Shastras. They will continue shouting Mantras through electronic equipment. All these Mantras can be explosive and can do harm instead of providing benefits. Mantras are not meant for shouting loudly or for Kirtan.

The Dikshit (who received a Mantra from Guru recommended by scriptures and traditional lineage) within his limits, can do ‘Upanshu Japa’ (Whispering Japa only audible to you) or ‘Manasa Japa’ (Japa in Mind). There is no requirement to speak.

Now Gayatri Mantra and Mahamantra are chanted in public places. Should they be chanted publicly? And what is its benefit derived by chanting these? It is also a sensitive question. One should obey the Shastras to get benefit from it and to ignore the mishap not following the right procedures.

All Mantras are not for chanting loudly, they have the power to kill. Mantras have more inner strength than the atom bombs. Whoever makes fun of these codes or plays with these mantras, are going towards destruction. There is a secret, suppose you give some private consultation to someone. It gets published in your name then you will be thrashed or not? Meetings are kept secret in general; Mantras deserves higher secrecy than mantranas (secret discussions). That is why Mantras are not chanting loudly. By initiation we take on Mantras, it is utmost secret.

The name of Bhagwan Rama and Krishna are prescribed for Kirtana using any of the recommended methods. There are so many secret mantras like Aum, Gayatri Mantra, Narvaana Mantra, Maha Mrityunjaye Mantra. Our Scriptures are full of it with codes and operation techniques. These are not for chanting aloud publicly. Both who listen and chant Mantras like “Om Namah Shivaya” in loud voice accrues sin. Is this a movement of a traditional Dharma by mixing various traditions? Without their proper understanding, it is neither fish nor fowl.

There are many Samaji customs that have been perpetuated by Sanatana Dharma followers and vice-versa. A custom leading to Dharma Shastra has neither been heard of nor has there been knowledge of it. Listening from here and there they are simply copying. “Gayatri Mantra” is not a thing of chanting. Gayatri Mantra is neither a thing of Kirtana (singing in praise of Bhagwan) nor a question of discussion.

This above article is guiding the righteous process of following a Mantra, A Devata, or Devi. It has key factors as Guru and tradition also. I am not authorized to write on the types of Mantra. A seeker can search for a Guru from recommended traditions to understand the basics of Mantra, Beeja, Kirtana, Japa, etc. In the positive note it is right to listen first, and then try to find out the fact after.
