Many have pondered and suggested for some time now that “hip hop is dead”. My theory is that assumptions are widely based off of some fact. I am here to point out the 5 biggest problems with the rap/hip hop music industry, this is more so for people in the industry (artists, producers, managers etc):

5 . Over Saturation

millions doing it

It seems now a days that making and producing music for free is so effortless, that so many people do it without even carrying on with any type of long term goal.

People have no problems getting FL Studio or some other DAW on some torrent site.

This means a lot of artistry is made at virtually no limit.

DAWs need their money, I suggest artists and producers get a serious job while working on their craft.

You can face illegal action if you use free programs as their tracking is getting more sophisticated.

4. Bootleggers

There are guys whose entire job is to download music off YouTube and submit them to cd baby so they can get all the monetization.

Its actually a pretty smart thing to do if you have no soul or musical talent.

If its not your work, don’t claim it is.

Its just wack as f*ck. You should at-least give proper credits.

3. Video Geniuses

Now this isn’t necessarily a bad thing but the market now is so competitive that in order to get subscribers on YouTube per say you need to be making amazing videos.

I mean its cool looking at a supped up beat videos with responsive sound waves and rain in the background, but geez its lame that this is taking priority over the actual beats.

2. Culture Vultures

Almost every top producer on YouTube is not black, and nearly every top producers/beat seller on google search is not black.

If you dont believe me go ahead and search for producers on YouTube and tell me what % of top producers are black.

Ok, yes this sounds racist but thats like me making kung fu movies that consistently top the charts but have no reference to Asians at all, no Asians in the movies, and no Asians making any type of royalty. More importantly no contribution to the community at all.

A lot, and I mean a lot of successful rappers that are black donate and contribute back to their community. I’ve personally seen rapper T.I. at Walmart buying kids toys on Christmas eve.

This is black culture, don’t ever forget that, that’s why I’m making it a goal to take the industry back.. or black, online, one subscribe at a got dam time.

1. Rappers are trash

What happened to writing dope lyrics? Like seriously is doing something thoughtful not cool anymore? Heck what happened to writing your own lyrics??

Sh*t Shia Lebeouf damn near took over the rap game with a decent freestyle, the dude spends 90% of his time on his acting career.

*Honorable Mention: Free Beat Producers

Yes, there are producers who give all or some of their beats away for free in hopes that it jump starts their career by letting any broke, non professional rapper hop on their beats and hit them with a credit.

The problem with this is not only does this not work in the long run, it just makes it harder for other producers to sell with so much free content in the market.

Sometimes I sit in my crib and wonder how free beat producers think. And honestly, I don’t know, but if your reading, seriously f*ck off.

Free beats are just lame, especially once we hear someone else on your beat that’s trash.

It’s like oh, your one of those artists, smh.
