For those unfamiliar, Melvin is best known as a long time friend and band mate of Jerry Garcia. He played in the Jerry Garcia Band for 18 years and keeps the beat alive by touring with a cast of characters, all of whom weren’t in the original JGB lineup but are extremely versatile in both the JGB and Grateful Dead song catalogs.
