Surprise Me Mr. Davis @ Club Passim — Tonight!

Few bands have survived my exodus from the jam band world. One in particular whose members have a lot of musicianship cred — The Slip — also have a side project band called Surprise Me Mr. Davis with the Shenandoah Valley singer / songwriter, Nathan Moore.

As my musical tastes have evolved, my respect for unique and pleasing to the ear vocalists has grown. Brad Barr, The Slip’s primary vocalist, has never been one to blow me away with his pipes. So the addition of Nathan, who’s vocals remind me of an early day Tom Waits, adds a lot of color to their music.

You’re bound to hear great banter from Nathan during a Surprise Me Mr. Davis show and I don’t think you could have picked a better venue to see them at then Club Passim. My last show here was Dawn Landes, and it was also one of my firsts. I’m excited to return and if you really want to make a night out of it, head early and grab a bit at the attached Veggie Planet. I’m told their flatbread pizza is some of the best around.

This is also the same day that they release a seven song EP, That Man Eats Morning For Breakfast, which you can buy in iTunes today.

The online sale for tonights show has stopped so you must go to the door and get them for $20.
