Show YOUR support for the Paris Climate Agreement.

Last week President Trump put our country in reverse and hit the gas. By pledging to take us out of the Paris Climate Agreement, he went quickly in the opposite direction of standing up for hard working Americans, protecting our children’s health, looking out for our national security, protecting our most vulnerable communities, and honoring our leadership and obligation to protect the only planet we have. The President’s action is another on a growing list that shows that he simply does not care about us. And with climate change’s point of no return quickly approaching, he showed that he is willing to drive us off a cliff.

When someone shows you who they are, believe them the first time.” — Maya Angelou

The good news is that we have the power to stop this madness.

Our country’s withdrawal from the Paris Climate Agreement will not officially happen until the day after the 2020 Presidential Election. This means that there is still hope. Paris is going to be on the ballot. The President elected in 2020 will have time to reverse this course. In an urgent fight for our very existence, we need to rise up, build, and come together to make sure we are prepared for that immensely important window of opportunity.

We are in the midst of a historic act of defiance towards a sitting President. In the days following the President’s announcement, an unprecedented collaboration of governors, mayors, businesses, investors, and universities across the country are coming forward to pledge their commitment to the goals of the Paris Climate Agreement. This group represents 120 million Americans and $6.2 Trillion of the U.S. Economy — and this group is growing fast.

These leaders are showing that there is a way to push back. There is a way to say that we do not support these actions that will have dire consequences for our communities. They are lighting the path for others to take in this dark time. They are still in and so are we.

The Hip Hop Caucus stands with this coalition quite literally. On Monday, with the U.S. Capitol in the background, we we had the honor of joining Washington D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser as she signed a Mayoral Order to honor the city’s continued commitment to the agreement.

The Hip Hop Caucus will continue to work with leaders across the world who are committed to the goals of the Paris Climate Agreement. Are you going to join us in this fight? We are part of a coalition that just launched “I am still in” initiative, so that YOU can tell the 194 Countries Committed to the Paris Agreement that You’re Still In too.

So as the President struggles to come up with better slogans for this horrendous act, we will continue to rise, build, and come together. Let’s make sure we are prepared and organized for the future. There is still an opportunity to stop this madness.
