This semester (Spring 2017), I was one of the committee heads for my fraternity’s new philanthropy — a fraternity fight night.

This sort of event hadn’t been done on Mizzou’s campus in several years so we had almost nothing to base our event off of. Planning started early November 2016, with the first order of business being getting approval from our national headquarters, which we thankfully did.

After that point, it was all systems go. I was in charge of overseeing a committee that needed to find a gym to train fighters, market the event to fraternities to sign up said fighters, find a venue big enough for 1,000 people, buy insurance, organize sponsorships, work with a budget that shrunk by $1,500 than we were originally promised, sell enough tickets to make a sizeable donation, and do well in school on top of all of this.

The whole process took four months to plan, but was well worth it. We sold 900 tickets and raised $12,500 for the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at the MU Women’s and Children’s Hospital.

I’ve attached the documents we used for this event, everything from the budget to waivers to t-shirt proofs to the day of script.

Also, here’s a link to photos from the event.
