Having too many candidates in the loop to fill a position can be as challenging as not finding anyone at all. But the pressure is real. Your manager is constantly on your back, the team is over-worked and that JD needs a review. This specialist position needs to be filled. Now.

As often with recruiting, you are about to embark on an ineffective, time consuming and costly journey.

So, what do you often do when you start to recruit? You post and pray…

You might have tried it, and after a while of posting your job ad in the same old channels — guess what. The same people apply for the job.

Keeping the numbers manageable (and relevant)

The old saying “the more the merrier” does not necessarily apply with recruiting. It’s a time-consuming challenge just to screen the applications and all the “not-filling-the-requirements-but-eager-to-learn-CVs”.

Truth is, you are interested in the top 5 people who fit the spot and you want to limit the number of candidates and interviewers to a minimum.

This is when the benefit of new technology and the resource of many comes in hand. You want to be able to post a job — and get the top 5 candidates in the first step of your process, not the last step.

Using an established and skilled crowd recruiting company, is a way to make sure that you get a limited number of candidates — and that they are qualified from the start.

You are simply fishing in a bigger pond and casting a wider net than normal. A bonus about using this type of recruiting process is that the crowd recruiter also knows how to activate passive talent.

“In too many organizations, recruiting remains stuck in the past, with inadequate processes in place for sourcing, tracking and evaluating best-fit candidates. By modernizing each step of the process, HR will reduce its risk of making a bad hire.” — Robert Delponte, Kronos

Utilizing the resources of many

The mindset behind crowd recruiting is pretty simple and is based on the idea of crowd sourcing. You put a project out there, someone delivers on it, and they get paid.

When crowd recruiting first started, it was a simple process of getting information and CV’s via email from a handful of recruiters trying to fill a pipeline.

With the ability to develop new technologies and features, crowd recruiting has changed into a controlled digital environment with filters, automation and quality control.

This changes the game and allows companies to source candidates in a fast, innovative and more efficient way.

It has also changed the lives of many freelancers and recruiters who now have the ability to work independently.

There are many stories about people who embraced the new freedom of freelance recruiting — you can read about one of them here.

No matter if you are looking for the opportunity to utilize our network and join a community of freelance recruiters, or if you are an employer looking for your next talent, the opportunity to reach out to a wider crowd and cast a wider net has come.
