Comparison sucks the life out of you

Last night one of my best friends and I met for accountability and to spend time together! I absolutely LOVE this girl. Thank God for godly friendships.

Proverbs 27:17 says As iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another. This verse is so true and is life-changing. We need Christian community. We need someone who will help us to continue in this race, to get up when we fall down, to rebuke us in love, and encourage one another.

James 5:16 Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective.

Praise the Lord for the body of Christ. Last night my dear sister and I were talking about comparison and how we were stuck in a stronghold of comparing ourselves to other people. Whether it be physical, emotional, spiritual or just how this person or that person runs their home or takes care of their kids-etc. We both agreed that comparison is sucking the life out of us.
Our identity is wrapped up in the Lord Jesus Christ. It is NOT in our physical appearance, or jobs, or how we take care of our homes. While these things are not bad inherently bad, if we make them an idol then they become tiny statues that we worship. This will destroy our happiness, our joy, and our time to do ministry because we will be focusing on ourselves instead of glorifying the Lord Jesus and loving and serving others.

We are meditating over the next couple of weeks on how the comparison is the KRYPTONITE of JOY.

Let us be happy in our skin and how God has made us and just be ourselves. Instead of wanting to be like this person or this person, God made us to be US not someone else.

The MOST beautiful trait a woman can have is the hidden person of her heart and her love and obedience for the Lord.

This is what REALLY matters.

Let’s take our eyes off the outside and things of this earth. Let us focus on the hidden person of the heart and loving and serving Christ Jesus and his body and on unbelievers.

1 Peter 3:3–4 Your beauty should not come from outward adornments, such as elaborate hairstyles and the wearing of gold jewelry or fine clothes. Rather, it should be that of your inner self, the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is of great worth in God’s sight.

When we are clinging to the Lord, reading his word daily, praying, and living in HIs spirit, then we won’t worry about our physical appearance-etc. We will be comfortable in our skin knowing that our identity is in Him and not in what the WORLD says we should be. We will be content with the Lord.

This lie will show it’s ugly face now and then but we, but we have the tools to fight it.

2 Peter 1:3 says, By his divine power, God has given us everything we need for living a godly life. We have received all of this by coming to know him, the one who called us to himself using his marvelous glory and excellence.
