Nice to meet you. I’m Radcliffe Takashi Onishi, Founder/CEO of the Babels inc. As about page of Historie, I would like to describe “what kind of product is Historie?” and “what I’m aiming with Historie.”
About Historie
"Historie" is an online history textbook covering neutral and multifaceted viewpoints in any country of the world. Users from all over the world can write while reviewing each other, and we aim for a knowledge-economy platform that distributes a fee based on the contribution degree of the user, using a blockchain and token economy.
The correct answer will never be a singular solution.
Do you know how history taught and portrayed in your neighbouring countries varies from your own? Or do you appreciate the degree of bias in your own education? Can you imagine how much misunderstanding and distorted communication is caused by that?
We all have differences, genders, nationalities, ethnic groups, religions, different political beliefs, even the person you talk to most may have reached a different “right answer” from yours.
Should the textbooks for history and civics be the ones to nourish our mind’s eye to see the other side of the border?
These subjects help to develop creativities for building a brighter future. We aim to support all children of future generations all over the world in obtaining a variety of perceptions towards their society.
At Historie we place emphasis on our philosophy that “in a complex world where people of various backgrounds, positions and opinions live together, there can never be one correct answer”. Therefore we employ a system that allows multiple Viewpoints to be listed in a wiki format, addressing posted Questions on current and historical issues. We will make educational materials based on these Questions & Viewpoints.
A decentralized knowledge economy for world history.
As a contributor for Historie, we would like you to invest your precious time, what you know, what you think, and what you feel into Historie and, as a result, the children of a future peaceful world.
We aim to reach this next generation through the compilation and sale of Historie’s contents in the form of textbooks, articles and educational materials, written in Historie’s balanced multi-layered Viewpoint style. This will then be marketed to educators and institutions in order to generate value in this online knowledge economy, while educating the open minded, forward thinking students of the future.
We will visualise your contribution to Historie based on your writing and other activities (posting questions, agreeing/disagreeing on other Viewpoints, social media sharing, participation in discussion, adding references, etc.). You will be awarded “contribution tokens” according to your contribution. The contribution tokens cannot be purchased with any currency, but prove your contribution to Historie’s contents.
We are proposing to build a system whereby the contents of Historie are paid for as a copyrighted work, so that we can return a proportion of the sales as a reward to the contribution token holder (for the corresponding content). This fee is paid with the Historie currency token.
We are planning to join the crypto-currency exchange market in the future, with the Historie currency token. We will adequately capture the trend of the global cryptographic currency market while supporting the Historie contribution community. We want to let as many people as possible purchase and trade this currency. We also envision the use of this token in order to let third parties pay for content on Historie.
Similarly, Historie has also being attempting to build up global statistics for associated information (gender, nationality, ethnicity… etc) by acquiring unidentified and unspecified data on the Agree / Disagree activities of each Viewpoint on each Question. This is the data that will accurately illustrate a large cross-section of the views from around the world. We believe that this statistical data can be utilised for educational innovation, for companies, governments and others.
Creating a new world in which a neutral historical education is commonplace
We have faith in the power of collective intelligence, the possibilities generated by the Internet, and there utilisation to provide neutral history textbooks to any country in the world. We shall create a new world where an unbiased and multifaceted historical education is accessible to anyone.

About Historie -歴史の教科書を分散型でつくる-
はじめに
はじめまして。the Babels inc. Founder/CEO の大西ラドクリフ貴士 です。the Babels inc.は “Product for Peace”をVisionに掲げ、世界平和をインターネットからつくるスタートアップです。
Historieの Aboutページに寄せて、Historieとはどのようなプロダクトなのか、また私がHistorieを通して目指していることを書きたいと思います。
Historieとは
Historieは、世界中のどの国にも中立的で多面的な観点を網羅した「歴史の教科書」を作る分散型プラットフォームです。世界中各国のユーザー同士が書き込みレビューし合う形で執筆し、その貢献度に応じて報酬が配分される分散型の知識経済プラットフォームを、ブロックチェーン技術とトークンエコノミーによって実現します。
正解は決して1つにならない、という前提
境界線の向こう側の正解
あなたは、隣の国で教えられている歴史がどれだけ自分が学んだものと違うかを知っていますか？
また、自分の学んだ歴史がどれだけ母国の一方向的な主張であったかを理解していますか？
そして、それらによって同じ人間同士のコミュニケーションをどれだけ誤解させ、歪められているか想像できますか？
他国籍、他民族、他宗教、他政党、異性、そしてあなたの目の前にいる人間も、彼らが決して自分と同じ「正解」や「前提」を持っていないということ。
そうした目には見えない境界線の向こう側の人たちが信じる正解を、自分が信じる正解とは違うと知りながらも、あきらめず想像しようとする力。
その想像力を養えるのが、本来あるべき「歴史」や「社会」の教科書ではないでしょうか。歴史と聞くと過去の事件のみを想像する方も多いと思いますが、単に過去を暗記する科目ではなく、未来を作って行く上で最もクリエイティブな科目だと私は思っています。そんな想像力を次世代の世界中の子供達に提供していきたい。
Historieの設計思想
Historieは設計思想として「様々な立場の人々がそれぞれの思惑を持って共に暮らすこの複雑な世界では、決して正解は1つにならない」という哲学を大事にしています。その哲学・思想はプロダクトにも強く反映されていて、1つのQuestion(疑問点)に対して複数のViewpoint(見解)をwiki形式で並記できる仕組みを発明しました。
wikipediaは客観的な事実だけを記述するという制約を設けたからwikiが1つにまとまるわけですが、いま世界で揉めているのは客観的事実ではなくて主観的意見の衝突ですよね。今後21世紀に必要とされていくデータベースは、wikipediaでは作れない主観的意見の衝突の整理だと思っています。
だからHistorieは主観的意見の衝突をwikiる。そして、そのとき作られるwikiは複数に分かれてしまっていい。正解は1つではないのだから。
このQuestion(疑問点)と複数のViewpoint(見解)1つ1つが、新しい歴史の教材だと私たちは思っています。
歴史の教科書を分散型でつくる
課題
もちろんこのプラットフォームが乗り越えなければならない壁が高く、道が険しく長いことは自覚しています。過去にも現在でも「歴史教科書を改善しようとする試み」は様々な方向性や大きさで続いて来ているものの、敬意を持って誤解を恐れずに言えば、それらのプロジェクトがどれだけ中立的であろうと自ら願い志したとしても、やはり一国の立場や視点のみで記述されてしまうと「結局、片側の目線の物語になっているのではないか？」という指摘や「歴史を修正しようとしているのか？」といった疑念を避けられません。
解決策
では、どうあるべきか。
1.まず、一国の立場のみではなく国際的な視点から書かれるべきであり、
2.次に、片側の立場の見解だけを正解としないことを大前提のルールとして設計し、
3.その上で、各立場の見解に関するエビデンスやファクトチェックを厳正に行うこと。
4.さらに、その編纂や承認のプロセスは、可能な限り透明性が高く、追跡可能な状態を保つべきである。
5.最後に、そしてもっとも重要なことは、運営母体の思想や意思決定が容易に編集に反映されることを避けることである。なぜなら、仮に外部から運営母体に対し、教科書の内容を変更・修正しようとする不当な圧力がかかった場合に、万が一にもその圧力の影響が疑われてしまうような設計であってはならないからだ。そのためには、設計上、教科書の編集権限を世界中に分散化することで、運営母体自身の編集権限に制約が課せられている必要がある。
そう、これらを実現できるのはおそらく、ブロックチェーンがとても向いていると思っています。そしてこれらを実現するのが、Historieです。

分散型とContributor
私たちはHistorieを作るプロセスに関わってくれる人々をContributor(コントリビューター)と呼んでいます。ぜひあなたにはHistorieのContributorとして、あなたの知っていること、考えていること、思っていること、そしてその貴重なその時間を、平和な世界と未来の子供達のために投資して欲しいと思っています。
HistorieでViewpointを作成すると、その報酬としてHistorie通貨トークンとHistorie貢献度トークンの2つのトークンがもらえます。詳しいブロックチェーン設計部分に関する説明は別の機会(white paperなど)に譲るとして、現時点で考えているトークンについて少し触れます。
Historie通貨トークン
Historie通貨トークンとは、Historieの世界の中でお金のように使える通貨です。Historie通貨トークンの用途として、初期はHistorieで質問を投稿することができる想定です。このHistorie通貨トークンは、将来的には仮想通貨取引所への上場を視野に入れており、世界中の人に購入してもらえるように考えています。実際に取引所に上場させるかどうかの判断は、世界的な仮想通貨の潮流を適切に捉えながら決めていこうと考えています。
Historie貢献度トークン
Historie貢献度トークンとは、誰がHistorieに汗をかいて貢献してくれたかを示すトークンです。擬似的に「著作権トークン」とも言えるかもしれません。私たちはあなたの書いてくれた文章や行動(質問の作成、AgreeDisagreeの表明、議論への参加、リファレンスの追加など)から該当コンテンツへの貢献度を可視化し、その貢献度に沿って貢献度トークンを分配します。基本的に、この貢献度トークンは＄や円といった資本では購入できません。
この貢献度トークンを持っていると、将来的にHistorieのコンテンツが著作物として有償利用される毎に、報酬として売上の一部を還元される仕組みを考えています。この還元は、該当コンテンツに対する貢献度トークンの保有者を中心に、貢献度の傾斜をかけながら分配される想定です。
貢献度トークン保持者への売上の還元は、Historie通貨トークンで支給されます。(※株式・セキュリティ型トークンのような利益分配ではなく、あくまで記事の執筆という労務への対価だと考えています。)
将来的な展望
2 次利用コンテンツによって、通貨の用途も広がる
Questions(疑問点)＆Viewpoints(見解)のコンテンツやデータを既存の出版社やメディアに提供することで、2 次利用コンテンツを作っていきたいと考えています。これによって、Historie通貨トークンの用途として、Historieの有料コンテンツを購入できるようになります。例えば、Historieで作られたQ＆V を元に編成された教材や記事の購入などです。
世界の断面図とも言える統計データ
また一方で、Historieは各QuestionのViewpoint毎にAgree/Disagreeのデータを取得し、それを非識別非特定化した上で、属性情報( 性別、国籍、民族など… )ごとに世界的な統計データを作ることにもチャレンジしていきます。それはこの世界の断面図とも言えるデータだと思っています。その統計データについても学校や企業、政府などのイノベーションに活用していけるとも考えています。
中立的な歴史教育が世界中どこの国でも当たり前になる世界を目指して
Historieが登場する以前の世界。つまり現在のこの世界では、歴史教育とは各国で各国の一方的な主張を元にバラバラに教えられることが当たり前の世界でした。政治的なメッセージを国民にインストールするツールとして利用されているシーンもありました。そしてこの世界では、この状況を「仕方のないこと」「良くないと思っても、変えることができないこと」と誰もが思い込んでいました。
でも私たちは、インターネットの集合知とブロックチェーンの力を用いて、世界中どこの国にも中立的で多面的な観点を網羅した「歴史の教科書」を創り出し、世界中の子供達に提供していくことでこの状況を変えていけると信じています。
中立的で多面的な歴史教育が世界中どこの国でも当たり前になるような世界を目指して。そして、Historieに触れて育った未来の子供達が「境界線の向こう側の正解」への想像力に溢れ、より平和な社会を創っていけることを信じ、Historieがそのための仕組みになることを願って。
