During the Indo Pak war of 1975 an interesting event happened at the coast line of Vishakapatinam. It has been the source of many controversies between these two countries and also between USA and then USSR. Let’s dig deep into it

PNS Ghazi was the first submarine to be inducted into the Pakistan Navy and the only submarine which was available for them during the 1975 war. PNS Ghazi was leased by the US Government to the Pakistan Government after they decided to dismantle it. It was a World War II submarine which runs in diesel electric engine with 98 men and 28 Torpedoes. It was previously USS Diablo build in 1944 and was leased to Pakistan from 1964.It was also the last submarine to be sunk in a war.

During the war for liberation of East Pakistan (Present day Bangladesh) in Indian Arsenal they was a huge weapon. It’s INR VIKRANT which is the only aircraft carrier in the Indian Navy. With INS Vikrant Indian Navy was able to create a blockade of the East Bangladesh ports there by reducing the fighting power of the Pakistan Navy. Pakistan clearly knows that it needs to bring down INS Vikrant in order to win the war. The task was assigned to PNS Ghazi which set out from Karachi port on 21 November 1971 under the command of Cdr Zafar Mohammed Khan in search of INS VIKRANT.
