Elihu Yale Governor of Madras in the 1680’s funded Yale university out of the money he squandered in India through corruption and slave trade.

It looks like it has a connection to a city in India-Madras/Chennai. Elihu Yale, the governor of Madras, funded Yale University’s construction. Was this fund made out of the slave trade?
