Dancer and choreographer Isadora Duncan (1877? -1927)revolutionized her art form and became known as the “Mother of Modern Dance.” A true bohemian, she lived, loved, and worked in what, for the time, were radically unorthodox ways. Here are 13 interesting facts about her life.

1. Isadora was her middle name

She was born Angela Isadora Duncan in San Francisco on either May 26, 1877, or May 27, 1878. After her banker father was involved in an investment scandal, her parents divorced, and her mother moved the family to Oakland, CA, where she worked as a seamstress and piano teacher.
