With September on the horizon and summer coming to a close, it’s time to bust out those planners, pens, and papers. We’ve found a few shops around Hong Kong to meet your school or workplace stationery needs. Let’s get productive!

Classic & Formal: Smythson and Monocle

Ever since its founding in 1887, Smythson has been crafting timeless and classic British luxury leather goods and stationery. Whether you’re congratulating someone on their engagement, writing a thank you card, or just trying to plan your busy month ahead, Smythson promises unrivalled craftsmanship in their goods. Their stationary line also includes refills for diaries, pens, and pencils: a sign that you’ll keep coming back for more. Don’t get stuck in that awkward period where you have to start writing in your planner in the middle of the year and pick up your 2017 diary before the new year hits. Fun fact: Smythson is the proud holder of three Royal Warrants, marks of distinction given to companies that have supplied goods for at least five years to the households of the British Royal Family.

With their line of notebooks made in Germany and their handwriting tools from Swiss company Caran d’Ache, the Monocle shop holds up their dedication to a global outlook. Compared to Smythson, Monocle stationery is simple and practical, perfect for those who don’t want to fuss over choosing among frills and thrills.
