This week work began on the Blue Monster, as the team is resurfacing the 32-foot high wall in left field. Over time, the plywood that makes up the wall deteriorates, and a facelift is in order.
The process is not an uncommon one, as the team updates the wall once every five-ish years. The last time the ballpark saw this procedure done was following the 2013 season, when the DBAP underwent a $20 million stadium renovation.
In total, the project is expected to take about 30 days. Once it’s over, the Blue Monster will be back to looking sharp.
