Darth Vader Comes to the DBAP
UPDATE: Bid on the Star Wars jerseys by clicking here.
Since the Bulls joined the International League in 1998, no team has more division titles (13), Governors’ Cup Championships (5) or Triple-A National Championships (2). It’s almost as if over the last 20 seasons, the Durham Bulls have become the Evil Empire of the I.L. Don’t believe us? We find your lack of faith disturbing.
As the most accomplished team since joining the galaxy (league), no franchise has had the success of the Durham Bulls. So this year we’re flipping the script.
The reigning Triple-A National Champs will go full Darth Vader for Star Wars Night in 2018, donning the jersey you see above, a black hat and black pants. (We wanted to go with a cape, too, but figured that might make it difficult on our players.)
The best part? The jerseys will be auctioned off throughout the game, with all proceeds benefiting Duke Children’s Hospital. (More details about the jersey auction will be announced closer to the date of the game.)
So when is this game, you ask? You guessed it. May the Fourth. At 7:05 p.m., the Bulls will take on the Toledo Mud Hens at the DBAP (who we beat 3–0 on last year’s Star Wars Night). Not to mention that night’s game will feature a postgame fireworks show and food trucks.
